-43 % CO2-emissions
-43 % CO2- emissions – ecoZINQ sets standards for the CO2 footprint
ZINQ surfaces reliably and permanently protect steel against corrosion. ecoZINQ also protects the environment: ecoZINQ produces 43% less CO2 emissions than conventional batch galvanised surfaces that comply with the DIN EN ISO 1461 standard. This means that ecoZINQ currently has the lowest CO2 – footprint of the industry – and this can be proven in concrete terms. The CO2 footprint and the positive environmental impact of ecoZINQ were independently tested by a third party and are specifically recognised in an environmental product declaration in accordance with EN 15804. This makes ecoZINQ the only surface with a third-party validated CO2 footprint (PCF). Every tonne of steel, which is protected against corrosion with ecoZINQ (compared to high-quality coating systems), saves 185 kg of CO2.
ecoZINQ combines the unrivalled CO2 footprint with the customary quality of the industry standard duroZINQ. Low-carbon surfaces such as duroZINQ already significantly reduce the product-related footprint compared to the industry standard – over the entire product life cycle. The ecoZINQ surface significantly exceeds this performance once again. This is because for ecoZINQ we only use CO2 -reduced primary zinc from renewable energies and more and more CO2 -reduced recycled zinc in primary quality – this reduces the carbon product footprint of ecoZINQ even further and surpasses all other batch galvanised surfaces in accordance with DIN EN ISO 1461.
This means that ecoZINQ offers the highest ecological quality without compromising on product quality: Like all ZINQ batch galvanised surfaces, ecoZINQ is Cradle-to-Cradle (C2C) certified and, as a material-healthy product, can be fully recycled in closed material cycles. The circular quality is recorded in a Product Circularity Data Sheet (PCDS) and all environmental influences over the entire life cycle of the product are recorded.
The specific CO2 savings achieved by opting for ecoZINQ as a durable surface are credited to ZINQ customers as carbon credits on their invoices. Carbon credits are therefore already the basis for reimbursements today – in the event that CO2 prices are also used in future to calculate direct and indirect environmental costs over the entire life cycle of the products.
ecoZINQ is therefore perfect for environmentally conscious customers who want to sustainably reduce the CO2 footprint of their hot-dip galvanised steel products. And the calculation also works out for the climate: the more ecoZINQ, the higher the CO2 savings!
